在冈山县和兵库县之间边界的鬼首村，由良家和仁礼家两大家族相互对立。应冈山县警察局警部矶川常次郎的委托，金田一耕助（加藤成亮饰）来到了一家名为龟之汤的温泉旅馆。旅馆的女主人青池里佳（寺岛忍饰）在20年前的一场悲剧中失去了她的丈夫源次郎，但凶手恩田幾三至今仍下落不明。有一天，出身于鬼首村的人气歌手大空由加里返乡，就在全村为她的到来欢欣鼓舞之时，青池里佳的儿子歌名雄（小泷望饰）的未婚妻由良泰子被人发现死在了瀑布中……
