人民教育家陶行知是1891年出生在安徽省歙县黄潭村。他勤奋好学，1914年赴美留学，归国后推行平民教育。1939年在重庆创办了一所新型学校——育才学校。抗战胜利后，陶行知冒着生命危险，积极参加制止内战、反对独裁的斗争，上了国民党反动派的黑名单。陶行知的一生是进步的一生，有为的一生，勤奋的一生，战斗的一生，为振兴中华，为人民教育事业，为祖国的独立、和平、民主，陶先生作出了不朽的贡献。
