舞台は四川省と甘粛省の境に広がる美しい山々に囲まれた秘境の里。ベマ族と呼ばれる謎めいた人々が山の神をあがめ暮らす。赤や黄色の色鮮やかな民族衣装、頭には鳥の羽の刺さった不思議な帽子！巨大な木の仮面をかぶり、３千年前から行われていたという鬼払いの儀式を行う。実はベマ族、古代には中国統一を目指した強大な民族であった。俳優の満島真之介さんが美しい村を訪ね、その暮らしに密着！悲劇の民族の歴史を見つめていく。
