本片于1971年以DIY方式摄制完成，可称作美国史上首部纪录第二波女性主义的纪录片。片中所收录的访谈，在在突显传统对女性角色的单一匮乏想象。不仅从小被教导要有女生的样子，在学校学的不是知识，而是秘书、美妆师等「适合的」工作技能，而结婚生子似乎成了女性的唯一天职。此片完成后广泛于学校、教堂及社福机构放映，为当时第二波女性主义的发展产生推波助澜的作用。
