地質学の教授、重枝昌光（穂積隆信）は、お手伝いの宮本園江（池波志乃）と深い仲になり、妻の恒子（水野久美）を殺す計画を練っていた。出入りの出版社の青年和久秋房（原田大二郎）の弱味を握った昌光は、園江に協力させて妻の偽装自殺を実行に移させた。恒子の妹でフリーカメラマンの尾形明美（浅茅陽子）は、その死体なき自殺に疑問を持ち、現場である瀬戸内海の大三島へ向かった。明美は昌光を疑うが、彼のアリバイは完全の筈だったが…。
