第八届平遥国际电影展于2024年9月24日至9月30日举办。本届电影展以“这把泥土(EARTH)”为主题，将展映来自中国、法国、葡萄牙、巴西、乌拉圭、意大利、墨西哥、日本、阿根廷、哥伦比亚、丹麦、美国等22个国家和地区的影片。官方展映单元汇聚来自全球的最新鲜的电影佳作，官方展映单元全球首映率达到43.9%，亚洲首映率为75.6%，中国内地首映率则为100%。
