这是英国著名制片公司skyworks为BBC2台打造的系列节目，从2009年开始推出第一季就获得了超高的收视率，并被引进到世界很多国家，此后每年都推出一季，本节目是2013年最新季第五季，每个镜头都是在一万英尺的高空拍摄，让观众们第一次体验从高空鸟瞰世界那些著名景点的感受，片中不仅有气势恢宏的美景，还有充满知识性和趣味性的历史故事。本季涉及到的地方主要有法国，德国，西班牙，瑞士，意大利，比利时以及一部分英国和美国。
